Through the Automotive Workshop Modernisation (ATOM) project, this EPP strives to modernise and enhance service standards of grassroots automobile workshops, currently an informal sector with minimal regulation or benchmarking.
Seven industry consultants were tapped by the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism to help transform participating workshops under ATOM.
Participants can also apply for a maximum 15-year loan of up to RM100,000 for car and motorcycle workshops through Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Bhd.
- 208 automotive workshops were transformed and modernised as at 31 December 2014, exceeding the revised target of 200 workshops for the year. This brings the total number of workshops upgraded under ATOM to 577 since it was launched in 2011.
