metres, this EPP will establish 61 hypermarkets (5,000 sq. metres or more) and 163
superstores (3,000 to 4,999 sq. metres) within the next 10 years.
EPP 1 will be led by large foreign players, such as Tesco, Giant and Carrefour,
along with home-grown leaders Mydin, Tunas Manja, Econsave and TF Value Mart, in
co-operation with the Ministry of Domestic, Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism.
- In 2014, five new hypermarkets and six superstores were set up nationwide by domestic and foreign players, meeting the yearly target.
