EPP 3.0 - Establishing Premium Outlets in Malaysia

This EPP aims to attract more tourist and increase tourist spend by establishing premium outlets which offer discounted luxury items, complementing existing retail offerings and supporting the country’s goal of becoming Asia’s leading shopping destination.


The country has since established its first premium outlet, Johor Premium Outlets, which will also leverage new tourist attractions in Johor, such as the Legoland and Hello Kitty theme parks, to enhance promotions and attract more visitors.


Highlights

  • Malaysia’s second outlet centre for premium items, Mitsui Outlet Park (MOP), commenced construction in January 2014. Located near KLIA, MOP will be the largest outlet mall in Southeast Asia. Completion is projected for early 2015.
