This EPP seeks to explore growth in the area of business tourism, a high-yield segment market which has shown the potential to deliver high revenues.
The Malaysia Convention and Exhibitions Bureau (MyCEB) was thus established with a mandate to grow business tourism in Malaysia, specifically in the area of meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE).
Its roles include raising the standards and skills of business events professionals, serving as a hub to assist meeting and event planners in bidding for and securing international business events in Malaysia, Government liaison, event marketing, delegate-boosting, and providing on-site event support and advice.
- MyCEB bid for and secured 43 association meetings in 2013, which will be held from 2013-2020. The events are targeted to attract approximately 39,110 delegates and include the 9th Asia-Pacific Clinical Nutrition Society Conference 2015, Spine Week 2016 and the Asia-Pacific Conference of the Junior Chamber International 2015.
- Major bids won by MyCEB in 2014 for the 2015-2020 period included the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) World Congress 2020, 9th World Urban Forum 2018 and Cityscape Malaysia 2015. The three events are projected to attract at least 19,300 delegates.
- MyCEB also launched Malaysia Business Events Week in August 2014, an industry forum where 12 international speakers and 21 local industry speakers shared insights and expertise with 483 delegates from different sectors in Malaysia to help stimulate the development of the local BE Business Events industry.
