This EPP aims to reverse declining rubber plantation area in Malaysia by maintaining rubber areas at 1.2 million hectares, of which one million hectares are harvested.
With yields expected to reach 2,00kg/ha, Malaysia is likely to produce 2 million metric tonnes of rubber to support domestic downstream activities.
- In 2014, approximately 51,629 hectares of rubber replanting and new planting were implemented nationwide. This figure represents a 6.4% increase from 2013’s 48,546 hectares.
- New plantings reached 11,765 hectares in 2014 in the eastern states of Sabah and Sarawak.
