EPP 8: Attracting MNCs to Set Up Operations in Malaysia and Partner with Local Firms

  • GNI by 2020 (mil)
  • Projected jobs by 2020

Through tax incentives and the building-up of the oil and gas infrastructure, Malaysia is positioning itself to attract major multinational firms to relocate or start regional operations in Malaysia and encourage these firms to form joint ventures with local OGSE firms. The move is aimed at strengthening local companies’ competitiveness in domestic and international job tenders, enhance growth prospects and transform Malaysia into Asia’s oil and gas hub.

  • In 2014, Atlas Hall formed a joint venture with Oiltools AS to market and deliver Oiltools’ services and products in Malaysia and the ASEAN region.
  • The year 2014 also saw the establishment of a joint venture firm between Australia’s leading drill stem test provider Farley Riggs and D&P Services; other notable joint ventures included an agreement between Tanjung Langsat Port Sdn Bhd and Oilfields Supply Center Ltd for the construction, management and operation of a common user supply base at Tanjung Langsat Port, Johor.
