One of Malaysia’s energy strategy include seeking out sources of energy that is sustainable and at the same time, environmentally-friendly.


To this end, this EPP aims to increase the use of hydroelectricity in the country and various agencies in Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia have been tasked with ensuring hydroelectricity has been tapped in a responsible and sustainable manner.


Highlights

  • Installed capacity of small hydro under the FiT programme reached 15.70 MW in 2014, contributing to over 154,597 MWh cumulative power generated.
  • In 2014, 17 areas in Sabah were identified as potential sites for small hydropower development.
