Services contributed 57.7% to the GDP in 2010. Most developed nations have an average of 70-80% contribution of services to GDP. Thus, we need to tap the full potential of the services sector which has been identified as an important engine of growth.

The 10th Malaysia Plan has targeted services to contribute 65% of the GDP by 2020. This will require services to grow by 7.2% p.a. with an average annual investment of RM45.8 billion.
