EPP 18.0 - Enabling Electric Vehicle Component

This EPP, spearheaded by the Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (MGTC) and the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) aims to fast-track the implementation of the Electric Vehicles (EV) policy and regulations for public and private transportation, targeting for 2,000 electric buses and 100,000 electric cars on the road by 2020.

Highlights

  • In 2014, GO Automobile Sdn Bhd, a local company, received the first electric vehicle manufacturing licence.
  • Home-grown electric scooter maker Eclimo Sdn Bhd is expanding its production to meet growing demand for electric scooters.
  • In 2014, the Malaysia Automotive Institute, ARCA Corporation Sdn Bhd, AutoCRC Ltd and Swinburne University signed an MoU to develop and manufacture electric buses, lithium-ion batteries and a commercial vehicle tracking system.
